Acquittal in PKK-case

< >

Amsterdam, 22 December 2017 - Today, the district court of Rotterdam fully acquitted four defedants for counts of membership of a terrorist organisation and recruitment for military service or armed conflict. According to the public prosecutor, the four defendants played an important role in the organisation of the alleged PKK-camp in Zeeland in November 2012. The court, however, held that there was insufficient evidence that the defendants had been involved in the organisation of the meeting and acquitted the defendants. The court therefore did not address the question of whether the youth meeting should be considered a PKK-camp.

Michiel PestmanMarq Wijngaarden en Tamara Buruma were defense counsel for three of the four defendants.
