Barbara van Straaten is a criminal defense lawyer with a special focus on the area of business & human rights. Previously, she worked as an associate at a large commercial law firm, in which capacity she gained experience in (international) dispute resolution and advising on corporate matters. 

Barbara also specialises in representing victims in criminal cases.

Barbara holds LLMs in International Criminal Law (cum laude), and Criminal Law from the University of Amsterdam. She followed part of her studies at Cambridge University and Columbia University (US). She has gained experience at the International Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the Dutch Permanent Mission to the Human Rights Council and at the department of criminal procedural law of the European Commission.

Lawyer since 2014.
